Ellis Oppenheim studied pottery making at Arrowmont, Peter’s Valley, and in France. He has been making ceramics for over thirty years and maintains a studio in Red Hook, NY while also working at Sculpture Space in New York City. Oppenheim has exhibited his work throughout the Hudson Valley in both one-person and group shows. He works exclusively in delicate porcelain making simple shapes thrown on the wheel and then altered. He likes to play with a mix of glazes to explore the ways in which colors can run together to result in unexpected tones.
